Presented by: Lorenzo Pagnotta
When is remedial exercise appropriate for the older adult? How much exercise is enough—and what types of movement are most beneficial?
In this practical and engaging course, we’ll explore the answers to these questions while examining key considerations for working with older adults living with arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease, sciatica, or piriformis syndrome.
Using sciatica and piriformis syndrome as practical examples, we’ll demonstrate thoughtful, intentional strength exercises designed to support the back, hips, legs, and core. These exercises can be incorporated into rehabilitation programs as well as general fitness programs to help older adults build strength, confidence, and functional capacity.
You’ll also gain practical strategies for working effectively with this unique population, including how to adapt exercise appropriately and thoughtfully to individual needs and abilities.
As a special bonus, we’ll introduce five essential exercises for balance, coordination, and proprioception—key components of maintaining independence and reducing fall risk as we age.
Walk away with practical tools, greater confidence, and a stronger understanding of how to safely and effectively prescribe exercise for the older adult.
