In this webinar Lisa will discuss the importance and the benefits of working within a multidisciplinary team when working with clients who have experienced a concussion. Concussion is a complicated injury that affects many systems of the body which requires a multi-disciplinary approach to care. We will discuss the RMT’s role within the team as well as the role of other healthcare practitioners within the concussion management team. You will learn how to take your client assessment information and create a treatment plan to address the client’s unique symptoms which are within our scope of practice; as well as what referrals they might require to address symptoms with someone who may have more experience or education in that area than you or things which may be out of our scope of practice.

About the Presenter:

Lisa Jespersen, RMT
Lisa has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2014 and brings over a decade of experience working in collaborative, clinical, and athletic environments. Working with Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Naturopathic Doctors, Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors, Personal Trainers, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Counsellors, Lawyers and fellow RMT’s in rehabilitation teams for concussion patients. Whether working in a multi-disciplinary clinic or owning her own clinic Lisa has always worked collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to better achieve her clients rehabilitation goals.

Lisa’s post-graduate education has concentrated on concussion management, cervical dysfunction, nerve injuries and other various massage techniques. Lisa is the author of two self-guided recovery journals — Concussion Help Diary (2021) and Post-Concussion Help Diary (2022), both available on Amazon — and is committed to empowering clients through education. She currently treats at Symetrics in North Bay, a multidisciplinary clinic and has taken on the role of Curriculum Coordinator for CTS’s Massage Therapy Program.
