Massage Therapy Awareness Week is October 20-26, 2024. This year, to mark the occasion, the RMTAO is focusing on the diverse benefits of massage therapy and highlighting different ways massage therapy can help relieve pain and improve function – from head to toe!

Although people are aware of massage therapy in general, they may only be familiar with a full body massage with more of a stress release focus. We have created several new sample social media posts focusing on different conditions and populations that can benefit from massage therapy treatment. This includes massage therapy for post-concussion headaches, shoulder pain, back pain, foot and ankle pain, and more! Access our sample social media posts

We encourage you to share our sample social media posts throughout the week to spread the word about the diverse benefits of massage therapy. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #MTAW. This is a great way to encourage your followers to consider different ways massage therapy might benefit them, and to celebrate the important role RMTs play during Massage Therapy Awareness Week.

To help you spread the word, we will also be posting several new patient stories this week, each highlighting different ways massage therapy can have a positive impact on patients. These patients will speak about the positive changes they’ve seen after massage therapy treatments and the impact massage therapy has had on their quality of life. These stories are available on the RMTAO website, and we will be sharing these posts on the RMTAO social media channels throughout the week.

We will also be asking our members and RMTs across Ontario to share their experiences throughout the week.

RMTs play an important role in health care, helping people reduce their pain and improve their ability to complete their regular activities. Massage therapy can be beneficial for a variety of injuries, conditions and circumstances, and massage therapy treatment can be adapted to an individual patient’s needs and preferences to get the best possible results.

“RMTs are an important part of health care. They can help people reduce their pain and improve their physical function,” said Michael Feraday, Executive Director and CEO of the RMTAO. “The diversity of conditions that can benefit from massage therapy is amazing, and this week we hope to highlight the different ways massage therapy can positively impact peoples’ lives.”

RMTs work closely with other health professionals and adapt their treatment to each individual. Research has shown that massage therapy can help people relieve musculoskeletal pain and can help people improve their mobility. Some of the stories we’ll be sharing this week highlight different conditions that can benefit from massage therapy, and others will focus on the positive impact of massage therapy on overall wellbeing.

This Massage Therapy Awareness Week, we will be highlighting all the ways massage therapy can help people – from head to toe!  We will be promoting the diverse benefits of massage therapy through our sample social media posts and patient stories, and you can share this information on your own channels to help spread the word.
