For RMTAO members interested in taking a leave of absence to care for a newborn baby, the RMTAO offers a parental leave option. Contact the RMTAO to let us know if you are interested in taking parental leave, and we will be able to adjust your membership status.
What happens to my membership?
Active Members who decide to take parental leave from their practice will remain an Active Member of the RMTAO until the end of their membership year in which the parental leave was taken. Individuals are not entitled to any refund or credit of membership dues paid.
At the conclusion of the membership year, a member on parental leave will have their status converted to Associate Member, for up to a maximum of 12 months from the date at which leave was initially taken.
What happens to Professional Liability Insurance?
If you are insured by the RMTAO, the insurance premium is 100% retained by the RMTAO, although you are unable to use the professional liability insurance policy during your leave until your membership with RMTAO is Active.
How to return to the RMTAO
When returning to Active membership, you may become an Active Member and purchase professional liability insurance, if required. The fee for membership and Professional Liability Insurance may be pro-rated depending on the point in the year at which the purchase is made.
If you would like to take advantage of the parental leave policy, make your request in writing to the RMTAO office.
